About

Dr. Crane is a social science researcher working at the intersection of inclusive& equitable practices and economic growth. Using collaborative, participant-centered methodologies, she identifies insights leading to actionable changes for industry leaders, policy makers, and communities.

Her recent work includes exploring community engagement in tech-based economic development of the NSF-funded Engines, documenting equity frameworks in federally-funded economic and workforce development programs, evaluating small business loan programs, and developing a novel framework of trauma-informed care within entrepreneurial support organizations. She currently leadsRestorative Economics Group, an independent research firm focusing on reimagining economic ideas and advancing inclusive approaches.

Dr. Crane also teaches in Michigan's correctional facility as well as at the University of Michigan. Prior to her current roles, Dr. Crane worked at the University of Michigan Economic Growth Institute as the Director of Research. She received her doctorate in International Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi, her masters in International Relations from theUniversity of Chicago.
